The Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians is a State-recognized tribe whose territory spans the San Fernando through Antelope Valleys. The Band has developed and operated a number of projects on behalf of the Indian community for decades. In addition, the Tribe has worked closely with others to assist Tribal communities in developing temporary aid programs for their own tribal members. The Tribe operates several departments including cultural resources management, education and cultural learning. The Tribe is awaiting determination for federal acknowledgment from the Department of the Interior.
